END OF THE YEAR THOUGHTS!

Duke Ellington School was overall not what I was expecting before i attended. Many rumors about the school made me have second thoughts about spending my time here. Good thing I listened to the one who knows best about me... My Mother!

One thing that I Know about Ellington now is that they focus on Arts AND Academics. Before i came to the school, many people would say "Duke barely focuses on academics" or "Duke isn't a good school if you want to be educated". Of course with everyone saying this, I was easily persuaded by these words. This made me not want to attend this school. However, thanks to my mother, now I know that the Duke Ellington School is VERY focused on academics! For the dance department, our instructors always say we have to be "smart dancers". Therefore, during our free time, they give us time to work on homework, classwork, etc. That shows how they care about our knowledge.

Another thing I know about Ellington now is that we have a lot of bonding activities. Before the school year started we attend a camp, for the incoming students, called Camp Moss Hollow. This is where we learned to bond with each other. We shared a laugh, a cry, a serious moment, etc. Being at Camp Moss Hollow made me open up to other people that I didn't think that I would be friends with today!

If I knew these things BEFORE I came to this school, I would've been less hesitant about attending. This school is pretty cool! So who ever wants to come here, don't hesitate! The Duke Ellington School is a great place for people who want to focus on their art and their intelligence!
